New Hair!

Hey guys, so I'm going to the hairdressers today and I've decided that I want to change my hair. So, before I go and do it, I wanted to show you guys some pictures that have inspired my new dream hair! I won't be dying it though, so keep that in mind!

So, you get the idea. Basically, I'm just getting a side fringe, with shorter layers on top for a volumised look. When I get back I'll put pictures up!

Hope you enjoyed this post, comment and let me know what you think of this style!

Wardrobe Essentials

Wardrobe essentials are the building blocks to a solid and functional style.
Examples of wardrobe staples are the basic v-neck tee, little black dress and dark wash jeans. They're simple, versatile and can be worn with almost anything, at any time of the year!
Here's what you'll discover below:
  • How to personalize the closet essentials to suit your body figure, coloring, personal style, etc.
  • Clothing and accessory essentials-checklist
  • Advice on updating your closet for Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter

This post will give you a detailed checklist of the wardrobe basics any chic fashionista should own - giving you an overview of what clothes and accessories you need to solidify your closet.

"So how do you know if your wardrobe is lacking the essentials?"

It may not be that obvious to you, but a sign could be that you spend more money on buyingnew clothes rather than wearing them.

Here are the common tell-tale signs:

  • You feel like you have nothing to wear despite your stuffed wardrobe
  • You tend to buy a lot of new clothes and accessories that are usually worn a few times
  • When putting together an outfit, you may feel that your look is boring, or that you've worn it in the same way in ages

If you found one or more of those points familiar, then your wardrobe really needs a reality check with some trend-proofing!

The closet essentials are also your outfit fixers. You can use them to tone down a too trendy or flashy outfit! Like say, if you wore a ruffled striped shirt and would like to make it less frilly, just add a plain cardigan or V-neck sweater.
You can never go wrong with plain staple pieces. They're classics that never get outdated and go with absolutely everything.
Now before you start updating your closet with the indispensables, here are some tips on how to make the process go smoothly:

Guidelines for Buying Wardrobe Essentials
  • The first thing you might want to do is to review the contents of your drawers and closets. This is where Closet Organizing comes into the picture. You also want to make sure that you buy essentials suitable for your lifestyle and climate.
  • Get at least 2 of each, 3 is even better! It's nice to have a spare t-shirt when the one you're wearing gets a ketchup stain
  • After securing 2 of each type, add even more but in various styles (eg. different necklines and waist styles. Such as a basic tee with front placket - also known as Henley or grandpa t-shirt)
  • Secure each essential in your neutrals first (both light and dark neutral) and then move over to your best colors (eg. if you're a Winter add true-reds, hot pink, purple, etc.).
  • Make sure that the details and style of the staples are versatile! Avoid any fancy details and colors on your wardrobe basics - stick to simplicity first. This ensures that you'll be able to wear them with any style and outfit.
  • Your most expensive wardrobe essential (eg. wool coat) should always be a neutral color.
    • Best neutrals for cool skin tones: Black, navy, grey, snow and soft white. Silver. Anything blue-based.
    • Best neutrals for warm skin tones: Brown, navy (for the deep and warm), olive, camel, cream. Gold. Anything yellow-based.

What Exactly is a "Wardrobe Essential"?
Most of the staples are basic and versatile - and some pieces are essential for the variousinevitable occasions such as job interviews and your conservative auntie's 60th birthday bash.

They are also:

    Get Plenty of Each

You can never have too many wardrobe staples. Securing several of each is convenient for warding off laundry days!
    • Trend proof - you can wear them on all occasions without sacrificing style
    • Flexible - you can change the whole look of it by adding a couple of accessories
    • Your wardrobe foundation - without them you'll end up feeling like something's missing. It's like not having underwear which is essential
    • Style savers - use them to tone down a dressy or an excessively trendy outfit
    • Outfit multipliers - with for example 12 basic garments you can create up to 80 outfits! (This is called 'Wardrobe Capsule')

  • How Does Wardrobe Essentials Work?
They're not as exciting as the current fashion trends but wardrobe essentials ups the flexibility of your style and wardrobe - which takes away a lot of the frustration we're often faced when putting together clothes.
Think of your wardrobe staples as blank canvas which you can build your outfits on.
For example, if you're wearing a plain simple black dress, you can put the "frosting" on there with statement jewelry and a pair of trendy shoes.

How to have an awesome day!

You may wake up on the wrong side of the bed, but that doesn't mean you have to adopt a negative attitude. Sometimes bad days seem inevitable — you miss the bus, arrive late to work, then forget a major deadline — but just a few tweaks to your everyday routine can set you up for better, happier days. Hoping to have a joyful Spring? Check out 10 simple ways to make a good day more likely:
  1. Set multiple alarms. It's hard to be satisfied when you're tired and groggy, so do yourself a favor by going to bed at a decent hour. More importantly, though, be sure to set several alarms so that your day gets off to a prompt, panic-free start.
  2. Eat a healthy breakfast. If you're hungry, it's not a good day. Period. Easy solution? Allow yourself enough time each morning to sit down and enjoy a filling, nutritious meal. Pack healthy snacks to make sure you have plenty of energy throughout the day.
  3. Look good, be comfortable. If you dress well and feel positive about your appearance, you're more likely to channel your best self. Your attitude will shift, if only slightly: "The rain is terrible, but at least my sweater is cute."
  4. Have a plan. Avoid any hectic moments or anxious breakdowns by giving yourself a daily schedule. If you're able to prep the night before, you'll feel much more relaxed as you tackle your daily responsibilities.
  5. Chat with loved ones. Engaging with the people you care about, be it in person or over the phone, can do wonders for your attitude. Even a five-minute conversation with your pal will be enough to lighten your spirit and leave you energized.
Read on for more ways to improve your days.
  1. Get moving. Kick-start the feel-good endorphins with a bit of exercise. It's best to get going early in the day so that you can ride the postworkout high a bit longer. You don't have to run a full marathon to reap the benefits, either; a quick walk around the block is sure to perk up your mood.
  2. Do something you enjoy. Love reading, writing, or painting? What about blogging or skimming different websites? Whatever it is that you find fulfilling, make time for it. Pencil it into your planner as if it's an appointment you can't miss, then follow through and consider it your time to "recharge" in between other tasks.
  3. Put out good energy. Give out compliments, gifts, pleases, and thank yous. Smile at strangers. Offer to do the dishes without any hint of resentment. It's a cliché, but it's true: what you put out in the world is what you'll get back, so do your best to create positive vibes around you.
  4. Focus on balance. Don't make your day all about work or all about your social life. Your mind-set will be much more cheerful if you can establish symmetry in your life. Knock out your to-do list before meeting with friends, and try your best to build a work-life balance.
  5. End on a good note. Sip your favorite tea, read a chapter from your favorite novel, or brainstorm a list of what you're grateful for at the end of each day. If you're able to relax and wind down rather than hurry to fall asleep, you're more likely to look back on the day with a sense of peace.
The bottom line: If all else fails, fake it until you make it. Waking up and deciding to have a good day can put you 10 steps ahead. Look for opportunities to create and encourage your own happiness, then do the same for others to help spread the joy.

In my next post, I'm going to do exactly the same thing, but with other accessories, like jewellery, watches, etc. I was going to do one for bags, but then I figured that the list could go on and on and on, because there's usually a lot more freedom when it comes to bags at school.

So anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post, and I really hope it helps you! Please comment your ideas and suggestions for my blog, follow, and tell your friends!

School Style!

So my school has a uniform, and I thought I would share my tips and tricks (for those of you who have a uniform) to make it a bit more unique and exciting! My uniform is all black, plus my school has just banned skirts, so I like to shake things up a bit, and make it a bit more girly!

To Do This...

- If you have a blazer like me, roll up the sleeves.
- Wear slightly tighter-fitting trousers.
- Wear jewellery (if your school allows it). A few cute bracelets, a necklace, maybe a nice watch, or some earrings! Nothing too big or chunky though.
- Wear a cool bag, like a pretty tote bag, or a cool backpack (check out my previous post for some ideas!).
- Wear cute shoes, like some brogues, or something like that.
- Wear a cardigan.
- Cute hairstyles and updos! (Try youtube for some ideas).
- Wear some makeup (if allowed).
- Paint your nails! (again, if allowed)

There are lots of other things you could do to spice up your uniform, but these are just the main ones. If you can think of any others, please comment them below!

Hope you enjoyed this post! For my next post, I'm going to show you some examples of shoes i think would look great with any uniform, or even if you don't have a uniform!

Must- Have This Month!

Hey guys! So, it's been a while since my last post, but I'm back now, and I have tons of new ideas, and things to share with you guys!

This month's must-have is something that I'm sure you've seen! Whether it was in a store, or on someone's back, this style of bag, the one I'm going to talk about in particular, is huge this month!

Studded Denim Backpack- Blue £35

Also available in black!

Topshop has a large range of backpacks in this month, but this one seems to have been the most popular! I really love it, and ordered it online earlier tonight! I was going to buy one in store today, so that I could use it tomorrow, but they had completely sold out everywhere! In one Topshop, the woman even said that the previous day, they had sold 28 of them! But then luckily it came back in stock online, so it's on it's way! It's practical, but still really cute! Even though in my opinion, it's a little overpriced, considering it's just a canvas bag, I still love it! However, if this is a little out of your price range, then check out some cheaper alternatives in my next post!

Short and sweet, hope you enjoyed it!
